  1. I've already used for quite a while PopOs! and by far one of the most stable distro out there, and a great compatibility with NVidia drivers.

  2. I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as linux, is in fact, gnu/linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, gnu plus linux. linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning gnu system made useful by the gnu corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the gnu system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of gnu which is widely used today is often called linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the gnu system, developed by the gnu Project.

There really is a linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. linux is normally used in combination with the gnu operating system: the whole system is basically gnu with linux added, or gnu/linux. All the so-called linux distributions are really distributions of gnu/linux.

  3. time and inclination? I've installed Ubuntu on the computers of a couple of old people because there's nothing to figure out. They open their web browser or they play music, write a letter or watch a movie. All with pre-installed software and no driver installs required.

  4. Linux user here. I think the selling point for Linux at this moment is customization and tilling windows managers

Why not add tilling to a distribution for newbies?

  5. Awesome coincidenece! I've just installed Pop!_OS on my TV PC, and I'm liking it so far. Very polished, no major issues. It did throw up an error and refused to install to the internal HD while having my external USB HD plugged in, however.

  6. I hope you realize you dumb piece of shit, that most linux installs go 16.04 16.09, 17.04 17.09, 18.04 18.09, 19.04 19.09, 20.04 20.09. What the fuck is 18.10, really you fucking idiot, holy shit, shit channel as always.

  7. This thing looks like it was actually thought out pretty well. I even like that they went with woodgrain trim on the case. THAT was pretty ballsy! 😉 Surprisingly, it doesn't look bad, either! 🙂 But that price, though… :/ Sounds like they went to the Apple school of computer manufacturing and sales. I like that they are handcrafted to a certain degree and that they are a U.S. based company. I'd scoot some money their way just to show my support! 😉

  8. I'm a 10 year user of Ubuntu — and you did the right thing here. System76 is a great entry for people who want a premium, stable, and Linux experience… but can't build it.

    Fair review.

  9. I’d buy just to put a hackintosh or Windows on it tbh , maybe put ubuntu just for the heck of it . Until Linux can run both Unix and winkernel (.exe and .dmg) then I’d consider it to work, not even Wine will change my mind

  10. If adobe released creative cloud for Linux it would be gg for content creators and Mac. I wonder if they pay adobe not to release on Linux? Adobe could even create their own Linux flavour for content creation

  11. I can only see this competing with apple and i'm stretching it , due to the reason that why apple is so popular is due to brand recognition, this is totally inferior to windows due to the compatibility with most consumer programs, this doesn't appeal to anyone complete flop. linux is niche OS

  12. Hmm exFAT, the IO and the price seems to be my only problem here. But if windows integrates the Linux kernel, won't other distros become less viable?
