How to access your iPhone on Linux

1 min read

Unlike Android, iPhone users have a harder time accessing their devices on Linux. While it is true that in 2017, distributions like Ubuntu have improved support for Apple smartphones, it is by no means perfect. Often times just plugging in an iPhone isn’t enough, and it requires some extra steps to work right. That’s why in this article, we’re going to explain how to access the iPhone on Linux

  1. I get this error on the autogen command, anybody please help?

    configure: error: Package requirements (fuse >= 2.7.0) were not met:

    No package 'fuse' found

    All packages installed except autoheader, there I get a package not found error.

  2. this still doesn’t give you complete anonymity, it’s cool. but understand that the smart phone was designed to keep track of everything. im sure this has some benefits though

  3. Great video! Thank you for all the info!
    What happens if you unmount through the graphical interface? At 5:15 in the left window the unmount button is visible. I'm running Linux Mint and iFuse seems to be preinstalled. I still can't import all photos and videos as it is a bit glitchi. here in Mint it seems to work when i press the graphical unmount, and it shows up underneath devices. Thank you in advance!

  4. Thank you soo much! I was considering buying an android mainly because of syncing between my Linux computer and phone. I’m not really as much a fan of android as iOS though I’m a big fan of Linux over anything else. Now I would consider just sticking with iPhone then.

  5. installed ifuse , created te iphone folder . but i always get this error message . I am using opensuse leap 15 ,64bits. any help ?
    [email protected]:~> ifuse ~/iphone
    Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device.
    Try again. If it still fails try rebooting your device.
    * Error in `ifuse': munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x0000559b3aba8260 *
