How To Make a Website Yourself – Step-by-Step Guide, Finally!

2 min read – How to Make a Website. This is a step by step video tutorial on how to make a website. If you enjoyed this video please like and subscribe to my channel. I hope to have more helpful videos coming soon!

Set a website up yourself, without going to a web developer. This step-by-step guide walks you through setting a website up yourself.

Before I made this video I struggled with the Internet, so when I was tasked with creating a website for my business I was lost. I called several web developers to get quotes on what they would charge to set a website up for me. I was shocked that they are charging anywhere between $2,000 – $3,000 to create a website that I can now put together in less than an hour, and do a better job in the process!

I had a difficult time finding some sort of guide to walk me through the process of setting a website up and handling the back-end. So, I decided it was time to provide an actual step-by-step guide in how to make a website.

Over the past few weeks I have taught myself the basics of managing my own web properties and I wanted to share what I have learned with you. In this tutorial I go over and walk through setting up a website from scratch. I walk through getting a domain name for the new website, getting the website hosted, logging into the control panel, installing the content management system WordPress for the website, choosing a website theme, adding pages, creating logos for the website and miscellaneous things that help make the website look professional.

I am now passionate about teaching others how to make a website for their businesses, and the importance of doing so. Please contact me directly if you still have questions and need help setting up a website after watching the video. The best way to reach me is my email: [email protected]

I have been using HostGator since I started and they have always been very helpful. I would not recommend them if I did not personally have success with them. If you’re going to sign up with HostGator please use this promo code: mywebsite25 and you will save 25% off, which is higher than the regular promo. I receive a small commission when you enter the code and this allows me to continue making video tutorials.

  5. Warning about WordPress picture quality just posted is recended.  Here's the fix: after clicking the "add media" then look for the "Attachment Display Settings" and pull down the "Size" option to "Full Size".  You'll have to size your pictures in photoshop before uploading.  It's a GREAT tutorial, but folks need to know this very important step.

  6. Hello Mr. Case, I have a question on this topic, How can I fix the problem with host gator logo wich is hanging on the link tab? How can I delete it?  And 2 question, would you pls make a new video, how to make website for musicians? Thanks in advance. David

  7. Websites are expensive because the people building them took the time to learn how to build one correctly. You're paying for their knowledge and experience and there's nothing wrong with that. You get what you pay for (like everything in this world). 🙂

  8. This video indeed gives me the much needed courage to attempt making a website on my own! I was planning to hire someone to train me as I guess nothing beats learning by doing with an expert but I now I am seriously contemplating attempting this on my own first and getting in touch with you if needed for help (and happy to pay for it!). Keep up the good work & God bless (what goes around invariably comes back!)…

  9. Thanx case……i have absolutely no knowledge about web design thing…but i managed it some how and your video helped thru out…..thanx a tonz again dear…god bless you

  10. Very good video. Sorry for doing this but it's impossible for a young musician to build an audience on youtube particularly after the new commenting system. I really hope this is not marked as spam. let me tell you my story. Music recording has always been a very important part of my life and I've always wanted to become a DJ. I have produced several songs and finally I am really close to achieve my dream. After losing my time with inadequate programs I finally found the #1 program for music production ever. You can find a link for this music production software on my channel. go check it out.

  11. I must be a total dolt!! I did this step by step and it was wonderful btw…but when I tried using a different theme…I'm lost completely!! :'( Is there anyone that knows the tempera theme that can help?? or show me how to add a slider to this responsive theme? frustrated beyond belief!!

  12. Hi
Thank you for posting your tutorial. I have followed the steps up until installing wordpress and when I received the e-mail with the username(admin) and password , the page will not load (I waited 3 hours like you mentioned), I tried to log in from the worpress site and I can't get in there either.

  13. I built a site just like the video it worked out great but the responsive doesn't look the same after I started changing the text. any clue what I may have done or maybe  word press changed something on their end since you made the video.

  14. I followed your instructions to the installation of WordPress, got the email from them, but I can not access my website like you show in your video.  It says it can not find my website domain.  I need help with this.  Thank you

  15. I just want to thank you BIG.  Your instructions are  the best.  I've been writing every single step down, so my memory would grab it better…just like being at an actual class and taking notes.  THANK YOU!!!
